Product information "Crane Song Avocet Stereo Version"
The Crane Song Avocet is designed to solve the problems of accurate monitoring and volume control as required by workstation users, studios and mastering rooms alike. Avocet is a stereo and surround controller with three digital inputs, three analog inputs and a headphone system. All digital signals are up-sampled and jitter reduced to ensure highest accuracy during D/A conversion. Avocet features dim, mute and mono functions plus a speaker select switch that sends line level balanced audio to one of three outputs. Buffered meter outputs are included. The internal headphone amplifier can be fed from the program source or via external input with provisions for a talk back function.

Der eingebaute hervorragende DA-Wandler gehört zu den weltbesten, die wir getestet haben und ermöglicht es, fremde Produktionen von CD und den eigenen Mix über den selben Wandler über den kürzesten Signalweg zu vergleichen.(..)
Der Avocet fügt dem Signal keinerlei unangenehme Artefakte hinzu und klingt durch seinen konsequent puristischen Aufbau immer transparent, offen und lässt die Dynamik intakt. Deswegen habe ich mich entschieden, meine Beurteilung durch die neutralste regelbare Monitorstufe zu machen, die ich finden konnte und bin mit dem Avocet super zufrieden.

Die analoge Audioqualität ist meines Erachtens state-of-the-art. Ich habe lange gesucht und viel verglichen: Weder die Konzepte, die auf der digitalen Ebene regeln und steuern, noch die analogen Geräte der Mitbewerber kamen für mich klanglich in Frage. Mit dem Crane Song Avocet habe ich endlich einen komfortablen Monitorcontroller gefunden, mit dem ich mühelos den Unterschied zwischen zu testenden Geräten oder Kabeln heraushören und meinen Kunden demonstrieren kann. Allein der eingebaute DA-Wandler ist den Preis des Avocet wert.

We've been using one for the last month and we absolutely love it - it sounds awesome and is very flexible. I've never been happy with the sound of the PC mon section, so after auditioning a few different mon sections we chose the Avocet. I love the remote, the big knob, the sound of it and the flexibility. The headphone outs sound great as well. I can't say enough nice things about it - plus the guys at Crane Song are the best! It turned out that the Avocet was exactly what i had in my mind - obviously Dave Hill at Crane Song is on the same page!
